Fallout 76's October 20 update trims Appalachia's rough edges

Bethesda has rolled out a new Fallout 76 update, version 1.7.27.11, described by the studio as bringing improvements to Appalachia. The download is approximately 6.7 GB on Steam, 18.5 GB through the Microsoft Store on PC, 18.4 GB on Xbox and 17.4 GB on PlayStation.

On the events and quests side, the update fixes an issue where the Tunnel of Love event was not dropping unique C.A.M.P. and food recipes, and changes Mad Dog Malone so that he now uses a minigun rather than seeking out other weapons or charging in unarmed. A Daily Ops Uplink issue, where the final dialogue was sometimes delivered by the wrong non-player character, is also addressed, along with several Slasher quest problems, including quest objects such as article clippings being preserved across character loads.

A number of outfit and armour fixes are included as well. The light on the Enclave Hellfire Helmet should no longer stay on permanently, visual issues with the Enclave Scientist Outfit are fixed, and hair should no longer clip through that outfit. The Poseidon Energy Outfit and Headwear have had their weight corrected to 0.1, and the Cutthroat Helmet now correctly shows that it protects against damage and disease from airborne hazards when inspected.

For builders, the Abandoned Nest has been moved to the Resource Collectors category in the Workshop menu and now has a callout for the resources it collects, while the Poseidon Energy Console gains a premium flag. The Holiday Belle, Black Ice and Lucky Shot outfits and the Enclave Technician Outfit are now craftable at the Armor Workbench. Other building fixes cover wallpaper inconsistencies on the Penitentiary C.A.M.P. Kit, missing textures on Atomic Light Set lamps, the Cobby Collectron granting the wrong type of fertilizer, audio problems with the Black Piano, and placement issues with Pint-Sized Slasher Wanted Posters.

Infestations receive a notable change, with the Scrip reward for completing one increased. Bethesda says it is aware of an issue with Infestations completing automatically and is currently investigating a solution. The update also fixes the legendary perk Electric Absorption not triggering against Infestation enemies and an overlap problem with the boss skull on the encounter health meter.

Elsewhere, weapon fixes cover the Cosmic Knife obtained through stamps returning to its default appearance, Gunther's Big Iron using regular .45 ammunition when fitted with a Prime Receiver, cryo damage display on Icemen's, and explosive damage calculations for the Gamma Gun, Cremator, Resolve Breaker and Hellstorm Missile Launcher. Pip-Boy fixes include the interface getting stuck on screen after simultaneous inspect and move actions, the lockpicking menu opening on top of the Pip-Boy menu, and unique effects now appearing on the Pip-Boy and trade menus. The update also includes crash fixes for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 platforms.

One known issue remains: voiceover support for the Burning Springs update is not available in French due to production difficulties, so Bethesda recommends enabling subtitles for the best experience while it works to bring French voiceover back.
