Free Fire's OB55 update is built around a familiar threat returning with new tricks. Garena's patch notes, dated September 10, 2026, bring back the NARUTO SHIPPUDEN Chapter 1 collaboration, and the Nine Tails is once again able to reshape a Battle Royale match before it has even properly begun.
At the start of a match, the Nine Tails may strike in a few different ways. It can hit the plane with a Tailed Beast Bomb and set it alight, forcing every player to eject once the countdown ends. On Bermuda, it can also blast open the Arsenals, letting players walk in for high-tier loot without needing an Arsenal Key. Mid-match, a Sharingan: Control pickup appears on the map, and capturing it lets a player pick a target area for the Nine Tails to bombard, dealing 60 explosive damage to players within a 100-metre radius.
The collaboration's social hub is back too. The Hidden Leaf Village returns as a pre-match meeting place, complete with a new Ninja Academy building. In front of the academy sits an interactable swing, and using it grants a permanent 5% movement speed boost, so the village is more than just a backdrop this time around.
Beyond the anime crossover, OB55 touches almost every part of the game. Clash Squad gains new throwable options, characters receive reworks and balance adjustments, and the weapon pool is refreshed with a new wave arriving on October 1, including the M7, Skorp, RPK and Hawk. Assault rifles also get attention in the notes, with Garena improving their accuracy at longer ranges while slightly slowing their reloads, and the M4A1 family receiving an armour penetration and accuracy buff.
Smaller system changes round out the patch. Players can now show off Final Shots and vehicle skins on their profiles, adding a personal touch to the post-match screen. Taken together, OB55 reads as a broad refresh rather than a single-event patch: a returning collaboration up front, deeper Battle Royale unpredictability underneath, and a staggered weapon rollout that kept players coming back into October.
