Dual-Wielding, Mods and a New Quest: Inside Cyberpunk 2077's Free Edgerunners 2 Update

CD PROJEKT RED has laid out exactly what players get in Cyberpunk 2077's Edgerunners 2 Update, and it is far more than a small anime tie-in. The free Update 2.5 arrived on October 22, 2026 for PC, Mac through Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version following in the days after.

The headline anime content is a new side quest called Clampdown, set before the events of Edgerunners 2. It opens up once players finish The Heist and complete two gigs for Wakako, then wait for her message. Finishing it earns a five-piece gear set based on King, a character from the new season. A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays tracks from across the Edgerunners series.

Combat and style get the biggest shake-up. A new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, backed by four auxiliary perks, lets V dual-wield Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category for the first time, and Photo Mode gains poses to show the new style off, plus frames drawn from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game. Hand cyberware can now be restyled too: equip Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire or the Projectile Launch System and visit one of five Glamdocs, each with its own shop, intro scene and catalogue of colour-customisable skins. Five new outfit sets arrive from in-game brands, with one more set promised a little later, alongside the NUS Infiltrator set, four TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech via Twitch Drops, and hairstyles previously limited to non-player characters.

The update also opens the game up to community creations. Cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io lets players browse and install a selection of player-made mods directly from the in-game menu on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with more mods to come over time. Console players should note that achievements and trophies cannot be earned while playing from a modded save file.

There is more to explore beyond the anime content. Welcome to Paradise is a second new side quest, a guided tour of Night City narrated by its founder Richard Night, which unlocks after The Heist and reaching level 15 Street Cred. Twelve new Minor Arcana Tarot Cards are hidden around the city, feeding into an extension of the Fool on the Hill quest with a special reward for collecting them all.

Rounding things out are everyday improvements: saves grouped by playthrough, filters for apartment and vehicle stashes, a dedicated icon for modded saves, a field-of-view slider on consoles, and a reshuffled set of AMD FSR options. On the technology side, the update adds DLSS 4.5 support with up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, glasses-free 3D effects on compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors, MetalFX Frame Interpolation, an FSR Anti-Lag 2 toggle, performance optimisations including for ray tracing and PlayStation 5 Pro, and improved HDR rendering. A batch of fixes covers issues ranging from a Nintendo Switch 2 save error to a Delamain cab that could get stuck and block quest progress.
