Night City is having a very busy week. CD PROJEKT RED has confirmed that the second season of its anime series is now streaming in full, and the studio is using the moment to bring players back into the game that started it all.

All ten episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are available on Netflix. The series is made with Japanese animation studio TRIGGER and stands on its own, so newcomers do not need to have seen the first season to follow it. Its story follows a fresh group of characters trying to survive Night City: a veteran edgerunner, a young film lover, a delinquent obsessed with chrome, and a netrunner from the Snake Nation, with their intertwined stories built around vengeance and redemption.

Behind the scenes, Kai Ikarashi directs the new season, with Kanno Ichigo as lead character designer. Masahiko Otsuka returns as a collaborator, and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor serves as showrunner, story writer and producer. Both the original series and the new season stream exclusively on Netflix.

The game side of the announcement is just as significant. The Edgerunners 2 Update, also known as Update 2.5, is a free update for Cyberpunk 2077 that adds content inspired by the anime alongside a wider set of new items and features. It was scheduled to arrive on October 22, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following shortly after.

Players did not have to wait long for the finer details. A special REDstreams broadcast on October 21, 2026, shown on Twitch, YouTube and Steam, gave a first look at what was coming, with the official patch notes published the same day. For fans of the world, the message is clear: whether on screen or in Night City itself, there is a new reason to return.
