Two full years after launch, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has opened its third year of support. Patch 15, released on October 1, 2026, is the game's second anniversary update, and it arrives alongside a Year 3 roadmap that runs through the rest of 2026 and into 2027.
The headline addition is Chaos Siege mode, which flips the battlefield's perspective. Players take on the role of Heretic Astartes fighting for control of Avarax, cutting down the Tyranid swarm while Imperial forces and Space Marines try to stop them conquering the hive city. The mode launches with two sectors, with a third already in the works.
For endgame players, the new Crucible system offers a self-imposed challenge. By talking to the Chapter Chaplain in the Battle Barge, players pick Penances, personal debuffs designed to make operations tougher, and earn Crucible XP toward unlocking the Lamenters armour set. Progression is tied to the class being played, Penances are separated into six tiers of escalating difficulty, and each tier demands a minimum number of picks, from two at Tier 1 to six at Tier 3.
The update also adds the one-handed Thunder Hammer, a fast weapon that can be charged to deliver powerful area-of-effect blows, for the Tactical, Assault, Bulwark and Techmarine classes. Three heroic weapons join the armoury, the Tactical class gets a rework with a broader melee arsenal, and a third Wargear slot arrives with the ability to equip capes, tabards and iron halos. Two cosmetic sets come with Patch 15 as well: the Space Wolves Champion Pack for the Bulwark class and the Exorcists Cosmetic Pack.
Looking ahead, the roadmap promises a brand-new player-versus-player mode featuring Weekly Stratagems in Patch 16, followed by the Apothecary class in Patch 17 in the first quarter of 2027, with a Champion skin for the Apothecary arriving in the update after its release. Year 3 is also set to bring new Operations and weapons, reworks to several core systems, and five new Cosmetic and Champion Packs.
