Divinity: Original Sin 2 is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Larian Studios announced on December 15, 2025. The release lets players explore the world of Rivellon and forge a path to godhood, alone or together, on current consoles rather than through backward compatibility.
Existing owners are looked after. Players who already own the game on Switch, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One can download the upgrade for free, either as an update to an installed copy or from the game's store page on the new console. The one exception is Japan, where the upgrade costs 100 yen on Switch and PlayStation 4.
Larian was clear about what the release is not: it is not a remake or a remaster. The studio described it simply as the way to experience the classic game on the current generation of consoles.
The timing was no accident. The current-gen launch landed the same period Larian revealed its next game, Divinity, returning to the series that first established the studio's reputation for deep, systems-driven role-playing. The 2017 original remains the entry point for anyone wanting to see where that legacy began.
