Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Serves Up 12 Sports on Switch 2

OFFICIAL Written by GPN · Nov 1, 2026, 8:38 PM ET · Nintendo Switch Sports Resort · Gaming

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is out now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, bringing a dozen motion-controlled sports to the tropical setting of Wuhu Island. Players can compete solo or with a friend, in person or online, using Joy-Con 2 controllers as rackets, bows, and more.

The full lineup covers boxing, table tennis, archery, tennis, volleyball, bowling, basketball, golf, thumb wrestling, skateboarding, power cruising, and prop plane flying. Most sports work with any Joy-Con controller players already own, though skateboarding specifically requires a Joy-Con 2 controller.

Beyond the sports themselves, the game lets players freely explore the island at three different times of day. That downtime includes chasing dolphins in the ocean, hunting for hidden hibiscus flowers, and collecting Spocco Photos that share information about sightseeing spots around the resort.

For competitive players, the Island Crown mode offers a ranked climb against increasingly tough opponents, with a shot at facing seasoned champions known as Island Legends for those who reach elite status. Players can also create a Sportsmate or use their own Mii character, earning Spocco Points to unlock hairstyles, outfits, and accessories in the Item Center, where collections rotate weekly.

Nintendo is also running special monthly items in the Item Center, with Halloween-themed cosmetics available during October. Players unsure about online play can try a free seven-day Nintendo Switch Online trial, which covers casual and ranked matches, before committing to a membership.
