Where Winds Meet Heads to War With the Hutuo Battlefield Arc on November 13

NetEase Games and Everstone Studio announced on October 27, 2026 that Hutuo, a major new region for the wuxia open-world adventure Where Winds Meet, will launch on November 13 alongside the game's first global anniversary celebrations. The Hutuo Battlefield narrative arc takes the story to its most climactic chapter yet, on a war-torn frontier where an invading army is pressing across a shattered border.

Hutuo is built as an authentic mud-and-steel warzone, and its story is framed around Xia, the martial code of justice and guardianship. At the battle of Zhongdu Bridge, northern invaders surge forward while frontline defenses fracture and old pacts lie in ruins, leaving players caught between loyalty and justice as displaced civilians shelter behind them. The region tells that conflict from varied perspectives, from a conflicted soldier defying brutal orders to the songs of displaced survivors among the river reeds and ordinary people risking their lives to shelter refugees in the night.

Combat grows with the region. The Hutuo River Campaign pits players against Xiao Han, a Khitan general empowered by Blood-forged Super Armor, while two new world bosses join the open world: Bingshen at Moonveil Knoll and the Khitan shaman Yelu Abuli. Together they give the warzone its hardest fights and its most dangerous new encounters.

PlayStation players get dedicated technical upgrades for the new content. On PS5 Pro, enhanced PSSR and upgraded ray-traced reflections sharpen Hutuo's rivers and wetlands at a stable 60 frames per second, while DualSense adaptive triggers and haptics add weight to drawn bows and clashing blades. Optimized asset streaming also cuts load times across fast-travel points, dungeons, and cinematic transitions.

The November 13 anniversary update brings more than the new region. NetEase describes it as the game's most generous rewards since launch, and it adds two board game modes: Horse Racing Chess, in which players act as living pieces in a dice-driven race, and Jianghu Tactics, built around lineups, positioning, gear, and round-by-round synergies. Later in November, the Dual Spears Martial Art arrives, directed and choreographed by legendary action director Yuen Woo-ping, alternating between offensive Light Spears and stance-breaking Heavy Spears.

A First Anniversary Special Broadcast on November 2 will show more of Hutuo and the anniversary plans before the region opens, giving players a final preview of the battlefield, the bosses, and the rewards ahead of launch.
