Words With Friends is getting a much larger vocabulary. Zynga, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive, announced on October 8, 2026 that the mobile word game is expanding its dictionary with 25,000 new words.
The update is framed as the start of a next era for the game. Alongside the new words, it brings fresh definitions for existing entries, so players are not just getting more tiles to play with but clearer explanations of what those words mean.
It also adds a first for the series: a player word-reporting feature. That lets players flag words themselves, putting part of keeping the dictionary accurate and up to date into the community's hands rather than leaving it entirely to the developers.
Words With Friends has long been one of mobile gaming's steady word games, and a dictionary refresh of this size is aimed at keeping everyday play feeling current — new words to discover, new definitions to learn, and a way for players to help shape the word list going forward.
