Terrible Lizards turns first-person parkour into survival horror on Xbox and Game Pass

Terrible Lizards is out now on Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass, and it makes one rule clear from the start: you cannot fight back. This is a first-person platforming game about escaping runaway dinosaur animatronics in an abandoned roadside attraction, and movement is the only weapon.

The setting is Dalton's Dinos, a once must-see Route 66 attraction baking under the New Mexico sun, in 1992. Something is very wrong there, the staff have vanished, and the player is stranded after their car dies miles from anywhere. A mysterious voice on a telephone begs for help finding a missing child, and the creatures inside the attraction are already hunting.

Survival means running, jumping, climbing, wall-running, bouncing and sliding, with no weapons except wits. The movement system is built around rhythm and flow: jumps can be adjusted in mid-air, so a mistimed leap can be corrected, while experienced players can chain moves together to find faster routes and occasionally bypass sections entirely. The developers describe that as a low skill floor with a high ceiling.

Between chases, the game opens out into more traditional platforming, exploration, environmental puzzles and larger caverns, plus hunt arenas and New Game Plus content built around the same movement. When a creature comes after you, the answer is never to turn and shoot: it is to move, and to keep moving.
