The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park opens a fear-haunted Central Park

The Division 2's darkest chapter yet has arrived. Echoes of Central Park, out November 3 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, takes players into one of New York City's most iconic landmarks for the first time in franchise history — and the park they find is not the one they remember.

Set in the summer after Warlords of New York, the story is told as a flashback, with a narrator guiding players through her version of events in a society gripped by paranoia over an unknown sinister threat. Central Park has been reclaimed by nature and turned into a place of decay and mystery, originally used as a mass burial ground during the outbreak, now silent except for a new apex threat lurking in the shadows and terrifying rumors of a new virus variant. The map covers Central Park and the Upper West Side, from Lincoln Square to the Dakota District, and is larger than Battle for Brooklyn.

Players are not alone in the park. Three reluctant companions join the mission — Brayleigh Callahan, a sniper and MIT graduate and Olympic shooting medalist; Elwood Franklin, a protector and former mall cop who aspires to join the NYPD; and Morse Feeney, an assault veteran and former first-wave Division agent. Each must confront their own demons before they will fight, and each reacts differently in combat, so replaying missions with a different companion changes the experience.

The endgame twists the usual formula: players enter the park as hunted prey with no GPS, facing a constant flood of enemies, then become the hunter as they learn the threat and collect gear. How well encounters go matters — strong performances earn exclusive rewards, while failures leave a disadvantage going forward.

Six new skill variants, including the Corrosive Trap and the Gas Bomber, plus new gear such as the Ratel exotic weapon and a new gear set, round out the expansion. It is playable solo or in co-op, with a Level 40 boost for players below that level so they can start immediately.
