Fallout 76's Slasher Update Hunts a Masked Killer Across Appalachia

OFFICIAL Written by GPN · Nov 7, 2026, 8:00 PM ET · Fallout 76 · Gaming

Something is killing people across Appalachia, and the bodies all point to a waist-high menace from before the Great War. Fallout 76's Slasher update is available now, and it turns the mystery into a multi-week hunt.

The mystery

The Slasher update tells its story through a series of eerie emergency broadcasts airing in parts over multiple weeks. Following them leads players to unravel the macabre masked murders, with tasks ranging from fighting Infestations of fanatical Slasher supporters to digging up unmarked graves for clues. The more broadcasts air and the more tasks are completed, the more likely players are to attract the Slasher's attention. Cornering the villain behind the spree, or surviving being cornered, brings the chance at a unique Power Armor set, a new Super Slasher weapon, and more.

Seasons

The update brings a new Season as well as an old one. Season 26, Beware the Blood Moon, lets players earn S.C.O.R.E. from playing to claim Tickets for rewards including the Blood Moon Weather Control Station, the Creepy Cultist Well, the Batty Skirt and more. Legacy Seasons also debut, giving players the choice to progress either the newest Season or a Season from the past, whether they are missing a few rewards or playing one for the first time.

Fixes and improvements

The update also carries fixes and enhancements, including improvements to Infestations: drop rates for certain rewards have increased, Infestation notifications can now be toggled, and fast-traveling to join teammates in an Infestation Zone is now free, making it easier to call in reinforcements for the challenging PvE encounters.

Console test servers

Public Test Servers come to consoles for the first time with this update. Xbox players can join through the Xbox Insider Hub, while PlayStation players can join through the Fallout 76 Discord server and the instructions in the #76-announcements channel.
