Sony has shown off a new look for the PlayStation 5 that leans into transparency. The Prism Collection, introduced on the PlayStation Blog, covers both DualSense controllers and PS5 console covers in three see-through designs.
The three options are Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray. Each one uses a clear finish with a glossy sheen, so the shape and inner detail of the hardware stay visible through the colour. Sony describes the orange as bold and bright, the green as smooth and elegant, and the gray as a more restrained, classic finish.
The design team behind the collection said the idea was to bring back the clear hardware look of the late 1990s, updated for the current console. The clear finish runs across the back of the controller, while the middle cover uses a metallic finish to tie the different surfaces together. Where the transparent material overlaps, the colours shift slightly — the orange picking up a rosy tint, the green gaining depth, and the gray taking on a cooler, storm-like tone.
The controllers are planned as a general release, while the matching console covers will be available in limited quantities through selected retailers. Sony lists recommended prices for Southeast Asia in its announcement and notes that actual retailer prices and availability may vary.
The collection is set to launch starting on February 4, 2027, with the exact date and availability varying by country and region.
