Where Winds Meet Hutuo Anniversary Update Brings a War-Torn Region to Xbox on November 13

Where Winds Meet celebrates its first anniversary with a major update on Xbox. The Hutuo region arrives on Xbox Series X|S on November 13, bringing a new war-torn campaign, fresh bosses, two tabletop modes and a new martial art, alongside anniversary rewards worth more than $150.

The Hutuo campaign

Hutuo is an active warzone shaped by a sixteen-year conflict, and the new campaign centers on the desperate frontline defense at the Battle of Zhongdu Bridge. The region explores the philosophy of Xia, the wuxia idea that an individual's duty is to protect the innocent when institutions fail, told through side quests about conflicted soldiers, displaced families and villagers sheltering refugees.

New bosses to conquer

Three new bosses guard the frontier. Xiao Han, the Fierce General, is the climax of the Hutuo River Campaign, fortified by Blood-forged Super Armor that has to be shattered with stance-breaking counterstrikes. Bingshen, a solitary wanderer at Moonveil Knoll, relies on rapid gap-closers and sweeping attacks. Yelu Abuli, a mystic royal and shaman, manipulates ceremonial fire and forces players to stay mobile and interrupt channeled incantations.

Two tabletop modes

When the fighting pauses, Hutuo adds two board-game modes playable across the Jianghu. Horse Racing Chess puts players on the board as living pieces, rolling dice and triggering Mystic Skills in a race to the finish. Jianghu Tactics is a deeper strategic mode that brings the game's Heroic Spirit roster to a tactical board, where positioning, gear and character bonds decide each round.

Dual Spears arrive November 26

Legendary action director Yuen Woo-ping, of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, led the motion capture and choreography for the Dual Spears martial art, arriving November 26. The weapon system weaves light thrusts and heavy downward strikes together mid-combo without resetting attack frames, keeping pressure on armored targets.

Anniversary rewards and Xbox optimizations

Logging in after the update on November 13 unlocks more than $150 worth of anniversary gifts, including a free Outfit Set of your choice, worth 2,580 Echo Beads, plus 42 Resonating Melody draws and 27 Lingering Melody draws earned through anniversary events. On Xbox, the update brings Smart Delivery, HDR support, AMD FSR 2 upscaling and an updated interface with larger text, with Xbox Series X delivering a 4K upscale from 1080p and Series S a 2K upscale from 900p.
