Overwatch 2's Midseason Update Closes the Reign of Talon Story and Brings an EVE Protocol Crossover

Overwatch 2's Season 5 midseason update brings the year-long Reign of Talon story to its final battlefield, throws open a crossover with EVE Protocol, and gives Roadhog a Mythic skin with an endless appetite.

Taking Reign

It all comes down to Rialto. For a year the balance of power inside Talon has shifted and shattered: Vendetta took the throne, Doomfist refused to stay gone, and Doctrine emerged from Grimsvotn. Now those threads collide in the Taking Reign event, running November 3 to December 7, as Doomfist and Overwatch converge to stop Vendetta once and for all. The five-week event has 24 tiers of rewards, with an Epic Sigma skin recolor on the free path and the Legendary Resurgence Doomfist skin and Vendetta's new Legendary Weapon on the premium Event Pass, which costs 1,000 Overwatch Coins. Once purchased, the premium pass can be finished at any point in Season 6 or later, so there is no fear of missing out.

EVE Protocol

A sleek, futuristic world crosses into Future Earth with the Overwatch x EVE Protocol collaboration, running November 3 to November 17. Widowmaker steps into the role of EVE, D.Va suits up as Lily in an Ultra skin with premium details, custom kill effects and a unique Hello emote, Freja becomes Raven, Vendetta takes command as Tachy, and Soldier: 76 becomes Adam. D.Va's mech Tokki is based on the Providence final boss.

Mythic Roadhog

Mythic Necrotic Knight Roadhog arrived November 3, a cursed knight with an endless hunger for souls that grows stronger even as the curse consumes him. The Mythic builds across four levels: the base form with custom effects, Skull, Knight and Plague Doctor helmet options, extra color palettes, and finally ethereal skulls, claws, spectral flames and transformative ability effects, plus a custom Hook, projectile effects and unique voice lines.

Events and Drives

Excavation Initiative returns November 3 to December 7, with three digs each week earning a Loot Box and further digging bringing Epic and Legendary Loot Boxes. Junkrat's Loot Hunt runs November 20 to 23 with no daily reset: complete five games to finish a challenge and grab a Loot Box, repeatable up to nine times, with Double XP live throughout. Drives return December 3 to 7 with separate Competitive and Quick Play tracks, offering up to 3,000 Competitive Points and a Signature or up to 3,000 Legacy Weapon Points, and Signature customization expands once players reach the fourth checkpoint. The Black Friday Vault Sale runs November 3 to December 7 with the Peak Mega Bundle, Hero Spotlight Bundles, the Mega Unvault Bundle and a StarCraft Mega Bundle.

OWCS World Finals

Twelve teams will touch down in Guangzhou for the 2026 Overwatch World Champions Series World Finals, running December 2 to 6. The OWCS World Finals Cheer Rally runs December 3 to 7, with in-game challenges earning Cheer and rewards, plus Twitch and YouTube drops for linked accounts.
