Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 arrives with four maps, a new DMZ zone and a 100-tier Battle Pass

Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is here, and it is a big one. The update adds four multiplayer maps, two new weapons, a new DMZ Exclusion Zone, a streamlined 100-tier Battle Pass and a long list of fixes across Multiplayer and DMZ.

Maps

Four maps join the rotation. Backstab takes the fight to a snow-covered town, Canyon mixes open spaces with natural terrain and elevation, Shoot House returns with its familiar three-lane layout in a new setting, and Kill Block: Crash brings a new featured combo for 6v6 play. More maps are planned later in the season.

Modes

Grind is back, with players collecting and banking Dog Tags to score, alongside Drop Zone, where teams hold a rotating objective to earn Killstreak drops. Gauntlet 1v1 arrives soon through the Wager Match event, letting players wager trophies in one-on-one Gunfight, with the winner staying on to face the next challenger.

Weapons

Two new base weapons headline the season: the Cronen Osprey assault rifle, a 5.56 rifle built for fire rate without losing control, and the CSG-35 submachine gun, which can be dual-wielded akimbo. Two more weapons and several new attachments will join the armoury over the course of the season.

DMZ

DMZ goes deeper underground with X01, a new Exclusion Zone set in a GRANIT Arms black site beneath Hajin. The underground facility brings new areas, threats and equipment, new DMZ Orders, a 3D Printer in-world, and FOB updates including new Boss Board intel and vendor stock for Season 1 BlackCell owners.

Battle Pass

Season 1 introduces a streamlined, linear 100-tier Battle Pass that automatically catches players up to the reward for the current day of the season, up to Day 50. The pass includes two new base weapons, Operator skins, Weapon Blueprints, Finishing Moves, Calling Cards, Weapon Charms, Reticles, Double XP Tokens, COD Points and DMZ Survival Kits.

Balance

Hardcore gets a significant change, with maximum health cut from 30 to 22. The Argonaut's health rises from 800 to 1,200, Crossfire gains spawn protection but loses 25% of its bullet radius and 50% of its bullet damage, Proximity Mines arm faster at 0.75 seconds instead of 1.5, and Claymores arm in 0.75 seconds with a wider trigger range and cone.

Global changes

Performance Mode at 120Hz is now open to all PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players with 120Hz displays, whether or not they use VRR. The update also cracks down on Warzone Agent, an unauthorised paid tool for lobby shopping: players running it will be warned to close it, blocked from Multiplayer if they do not, and can face temporary or permanent account and hardware bans for working around the block.

The notes also carry fixes for a first-loadout freeze, broken Loadouts after Prestiging, Event Mastery Camo progression, DMZ progression and rewards, and a wide sweep of stability, weapon, map, mode and UI issues.
