PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has published a new dev letter on its fight against cheating, covering cheat distribution, ban evasion and penalties for playing alongside cheaters.
Between January and September 2026, the Anti-Cheat Team reported more than 280,000 pieces of content selling or promoting cheat programs for removal across websites, online marketplaces and social media, using a machine learning-based detection system that also tracks reappearing seller accounts and distribution channels.
On ban evasion, the team says it built two sets of detection criteria based on identifying information that stays consistent even when a player changes their hardware ID. That work has led to 10,237 accounts being banned for evading bans by changing their HWID. The identification logic has been updated four times since the start of October, and the team says both detection sets were validated before use so legitimate players are not caught up in them.
The team is also reviewing stronger penalties for players who form premade teams with cheaters to gain an unfair advantage, which it already punishes under its Rules of Conduct. It warns that playing alongside a suspected cheater can lead to serious penalties on your own account, and asks players to report suspected cheaters through the in-game reporting feature.
