Assassin's Creed Valhalla gets its most requested update: New Game+ lands today

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has a new reason to return to England. The Most Requested Update is live now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One as a free patch, and its headline feature is the New Game+ mode fans have asked for since launch.

New Game+ opens up once you finish the Holy Day Quest, letting you replay Eivor's journey with your endgame character. Each run through scales the difficulty up, so the world keeps pushing back as your build grows stronger. A new resource, Mithril, feeds into the update's deeper progression: it upgrades divine gear, and you earn it by picking up gear or Books of Knowledge you already own while in New Game+, or by finding it in Nilfheim and in Mastery and River Raid shops. Gear can now reach level 27, up from 13, and Wealth Chests that once handed out Carbon, Nickel and Tungsten will pay out Platinum instead while you are in New Game+.

The patch also adds an Extended Progression Mode, which folds gear upgrades, runes and masteries into your overall power level, plus a Stash in Ravensthorpe for storing spare gear and runes. The Rune Forge gets its own overhaul: runes can be upgraded for silver from the menu, a new Superior tier arrives, and more than 300 engravable runes join the game. Lead Game Designer David Larouche says the team built the update around the community's wishlist, noting that Valhalla may have had its final content update years ago but players never stopped caring about it — and neither did the team.
