The METRO Redux next-gen update is out now on Xbox Series X|S. The free update covers both METRO 2033 and Last Light Redux, with a choice of true 4K resolution at 60fps or upscaled 4K at 120fps, backed by 4A TSR upscaling and antialiasing.

Beyond frame rates, the update modernises both games with more detailed textures, a refined lighting and shadow system, richer environmental detail and improved animation. Xbox Ally and Ally X owners get full support and optimisation, and Xbox Play Anywhere carries progress across console, PC and handheld.

The controller gets in on the atmosphere too: the update adds full support for the Xbox controller's Impulse Triggers, adding tactile feedback to the tension of the tunnels.

More than 50 million players have explored the METRO series since the first game launched in 2010. The update is also a refresher ahead of METRO 2039, which launches on February 4, 2027.
