Anno 117: Pax Romana's Dawn of the Delta Expansion Opens the Nile Province of Aegyptus

Anno 117: Pax Romana's third and largest Year 1 expansion is out now. Dawn of the Delta opens the new province of Aegyptus, a fertile river delta ruled by the Nile's seasons, with new peoples, goods, gods, ships and a murder mystery to solve.

Aegyptus province

Aegyptus is available immediately, either as a mission in an existing save or as a starting province in a new game. Instead of settling islands on open ocean, players sail narrow branches between strips of land. Each buildable area has three zones: Drylands for cities and production that need irrigation before they can farm, Farmlands along the river's edge for grain and trees, and Floodplains, a new terrain beside the Nile that yields larger harvests but can flood, with exclusive resources in Geese, Beads and Reeds and buildings connected by mud roads.

The whole province runs on the Nile's two seasons, each lasting about two hours of game time. Shemu is the harvest season, when the Nile stays in its bed and floodplain production buildings yield one extra ton of goods. Akhet is the flood season, when the Nile overflows, floodplain production drops to 25% and cities take a Health debuff, though Fire Safety improves.

Population and culture

As with Albion, players choose whether to Romanize their cities or embrace local traditions, a choice that shapes available deities, production chains, fleet and military composition and city aesthetics. The first population tier is the Threshers, who work mud into bricks and gather around the Fire Pit. From there the Aegyptian path leads to Potters and then Chanters, priestesses who worship at the temple through song, while the Graeco-Roman path leads to Scribes and then Gymnasiarchs, commercially minded graduates of the Gymnasium.

Goods and deities

Dawn of the Delta adds new goods for every tier, from Dates, Porridge and Tunics for Threshers to Lotus Tea, Kahk and Perfumed Oil for Chanters and Exotic Appetizers, Ivory Caskets and Bathing Milk for Gymnasiarchs. Three deities can be worshipped at sanctuaries and temples: Sobek, Isis-Bastet and Thoth Trismegistus, each boosting production of the same food goods and offering exaltation effects such as a Dovecote, a Sphinx Shrine or cheaper specialists. Two new ship types built for river travel join the fleet, alongside Kumatic Archers and Dromedarii for the military.

Campaign and Sector Project

The expansion adds a murder mystery campaign. Players arrive in Aegyptus just after Nymphaeus, a well-loved local celebrity who advocated for Kumatic and Hellenistic co-habitation, is found dead in the Nile. Tasked with his mummification, they find evidence of foul play and can investigate what really happened while Epistrategos Heron deals with the unrest. New faces include Heron himself, the tyrant rival Decimus and the raider Kandis of Kashta, who attacks grain fields unless paid ransom. The Sector Project lets governors rebuild the great pyramids in four stages, racing each other to be the greatest contributor to Roman grandeur.

Sale and Free Weekend

Anno 117: Pax Romana is on sale for up to 40% off through December 1 on the Ubisoft Store, through November 18 on Steam, November 20 on PlayStation and November 19 on Xbox, covering the base game, the Year 1 Pass and the first two DLCs. A Free Weekend runs on PlayStation, Xbox and Ubisoft Connect through November 9, and progress carries over for anyone who buys the game afterwards. Dawn of the Delta is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
